The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence is the leading German research institute in the field of innovative software technology. Currently it is the biggest research center worldwide in the area of Artificial Intelligence and its application in terms of number of employees and the volume of external funds.

Based on application oriented basic research, DFKI develops product functions, prototypes and patentable solutions in the field of information and communication technology. Research and development projects are conducted in eighteen research departments and research groups, eight competence centers and seven living labs.
